Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Duties and responsibilities will include: -
- Examining rough gemstones and determine the best cutting plan;
- Marking, sawing, splitting, and pre-forming gemstones for faceting;
- Cutting and facet gemstones to specified angles and proportions;
- Polishing gemstones to achieve maximum brilliance and quality;
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- A Diploma in Gemstone Cutting, Lapidary, Gemology, Mineral Processing or Jewellery Technology from a recognized institution;
- Knowledge of gemstone identification, grading, and valuation techniques;
- Ability to operate and maintain lapidary equipment; and
- Good hand–eye coordination, attention to detail, and manual dexterity.
