Operations Manager TZ

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to coordinate and continuously improve the day-to-day operational activities of the business, including logistics, shipping, documentation, warehousing, supply chain and field operations.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working both in the office and in the field, coordinating deliveries, supervising mixing machine operations and operators, supporting customer deliveries, managing third-party providers, and ensuring the required permits, shipping and compliance documentation are in place.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee day-to-day operational activities, including shipment coordination, documentation, warehousing, distribution and field workflows.
  
• Coordinate field deliveries and make occasional one-off customer deliveries as required.
  
• Supervise mixing machine operations and machine operators, ensuring efficient and safe execution of activities.
  
• Coordinate local staff, contractors and third-party service providers including carriers, forwarders, warehouses and customs agents.
  
• Oversee warehouse activities including stock receipts, storage, bagging, repacking, mixing, inventory accuracy and dispatch readiness.
  
• Monitor inventory shrinkage, HSE standards and safety management.
  
• Ensure all shipment documentation is complete, accurate and compliant with local regulations.
  
• Manage clearing agents, customs procedures, port/border processes and transit logistics.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable shipping and trade requirements, including Incoterms, certificates of origin, import/export licences, permits and other regulatory documentation.
  
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational records in internal data and ERP systems.
  
• Follow up with authorities, suppliers, logistics partners and other stakeholders to resolve documentation and compliance issues.
  
• Coordinate routine maintenance, servicing and operational readiness of local production and warehouse equipment.
  
• Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, escalating matters beyond authority to management in a timely manner.
  
• Implement and follow standardised operating procedures, adapting them where necessary to local legal or market requirements.
  
• Share local market knowledge and contribute to improved ways of working across the region.
  

Ideal Candidate

• 3–5 years’ experience in operations, import/export, logistics, shipping or supply chain.
  
• Strong practical experience with sea freight, shipping, customs clearance and import operations.
  
• Experience coordinating warehousing and third-party logistics providers.
  
• Strong administrative, documentation and compliance skills.
  
• Experience managing operations across multiple locations or countries is an advantage.
  
• Comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders and resolving operational issues independently.
  
• Strong follow-up skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  
• Proficiency in Excel and operational reporting tools; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
  
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, field-based and operational environment.
  
• Must be able to drive a car or ride a motorbike and be comfortable making field/customer deliveries as required.
  
• Valid driving or riding licence required; candidates should be prepared to share a copy of the licence upon request.
  
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, ethical conduct and a clear, solution-oriented communication style.
  
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.
