Our client, a fast-growing bank in Kenya that operates on ethical, interest-free banking principles and is part of a major global financial group, is seeking to hire a Finance Business Analyst within their Finance Department. Reporting to the Manager - Planning and Budgeting, this role is based in Nairobi and sits within a dynamic team supporting the bank’s strategic objectives
Job Purpose
The Finance Business Analyst in liaison with Manager Business Planning and Budgeting plays a critical role in supporting the bank’s financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic decision- making processes. By providing actionable insights through data-driven analysis, this role helps optimize profitability, improve operational efficiency, and ensure alignment with financial objectives. The analyst acts as a key liaison between Finance and various business units, translating financial data into meaningful business intelligence to support the growth and sustainability of the bank’s commercial operations.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and performance dashboards
Analyze business unit performance and support variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast)
Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
Help track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across business segments.
Collaborate with other departments to gather relevant financial and non-financial information.
Monitor and track key financial and business metrics such as revenue, expenses, and profitability.
Support finance projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory reporting requirements under supervision.
Maintain documentation of procedures and reports for audit and review purposes.
Drive performance improvement through financial analysis and commercial insight.
Provide ad-hoc analysis and support for internal projects and decision-making processes.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and support finance system enhancements.
All the above accountabilities include but not limited to any additional/new tasks or responsibilities assigned by the line Manager.

Job Specification
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA,ACCA) are a plus.
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years in financial planning & analysis, business partnering, or commercial finance in banking or financial services.
Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders through data- driven insights.
Technical Skills
Advanced financial modelling and analysis skills.
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, and macros.
Knowledge of banking products and regulations
Competencies
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to simplify complex financial information for non-financial audiences.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
