Senior Officer - Transaction Monitoring and Screening
Description
Job Purpose
To avoid any financial, reputational and sanction risk by ensuring customer transactions are in line with customer profile taking into consideration Compliance policies and Regulatory requirements. Responsible for handling Anti money laundering and Screening alerts / cases & investigation.
Primarily, the officer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing financial transactions to detect suspicious activities related to money laundering, terrorism financing, proliferation financing, fraud, and other financial crimes. Key duties include investigating alerts generated by transaction monitoring and screening systems, conducting enhanced due diligence, clearing or escalating suspicious transaction alerts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves gathering data from internal and external sources, documenting findings, preparing reports (such as suspicious activity reports), and collaborating with other departments. The Senior Officer will also work on improving monitoring processes, tuning screening systems, and supporting audit and regulatory reviews.
AML Transaction Monitoring
Conducting transaction monitoring to identify suspicious and unusual financial activities.
Analyze the transaction filtering / monitoring (AML) alerts within turnaround time, including communication of AML low risk alerts to relevant business segments.
Investigating and analyzing alerts, closing alerts based on Business feedback and escalating cases where necessary
Conduct enhanced due diligence investigations on AML alerts for suspicious transaction activity, gathering evidence and concluding the alert with proper comments / justification / customer profile.
Create cases for suspicious AML alerts, raise RFI to business and maintain proper follow- up, until the case is concluded
Escalate unresolved AML alerts and cases to Compliance Management within the defined timelines
Draft STRs to the regulators
To conduct AML investigation for cases forwarded by different departments / correspondent banks / Regulator.
Swift & Non-Swift payment screening
Analyze and respond to Customer Name Screening, SWIFT and Non-SWIFT (EFT, Bank Drafts etc.) Screening alerts, generated by screening systems, within the required timelines.
Analyze and communicate any unusual remittances, while performing SWIFT and Non-SWIFT related payment messages and raise issues accordingly
Investigate and escalate appropriately, to both internal or external stakeholders, true sanctions matches and blocked/rejected payments.
Maintain updated logs for tracking of stripped payment messages, payments blocked/rejected over Sanctions concerns and true sanctions match logs.
Perform monitoring checks to ensure that full originator and beneficiary information is included in outgoing & Incoming payment messages including monitoring of stripped payment messages
Perform and/or assist the Trade Operations Unit in shipment and vessel tracking, as well as IMB checks.
Action escalated cases from the Trade Operations Unit
Other Activities
To be able to complete the assigned task within the deadline
Maintain and update all logs, effectively managing follow-ups, preparation of MIS of pending AML/Screening alerts, queries and other activities for AML Management reporting.
Provide suggestions for enhancement of AML / Sanction screening or other compliance related systems and processes.
Optimizing transaction monitoring and payment screening systems by tuning rules and scenarios to reduce false positives and improve detection.
Supporting implementation of audit and regulatory compliance recommendations.
Leading or assisting in transaction monitoring and screening projects, while ensuring communication with relevant stakeholders at enterprise-wide level.
Support the unit in terms of providing Backups, as and when required
In addition to the above accountabilities, new tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the line Manager on time-to-time basis.
