Person Specification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a reputable university
  • Professional membership in The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) would be an added advantage
  • 3-7 years of experience in a reputable Architectural firm with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD (ideally with Revit experience as well).
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.

  • Current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
  • Exemplary critical thinking, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.

  • Well-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery and equipment.

Key Duties

  • Create detail plans integrating engineering, electrical, and HVAC considerations.
  • Supervising on-site construction activities to ensure alignment with architectural plans and specifications.
  • Facilitating effective communication and coordination among different project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinating with various disciplines to ensure smooth integration of architectural design with structural, mechanical, electrical and other systems.
  • Collaborating with the design team, including engineers, other consultants, and contractors, to integrate various design elements.
  • Reviewing and approving architectural plans, drawings and specifications to ensure that they reflect the intended design concept and meet regulatory standards.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including as-built drawings, site reports and change orders.
  • Resolving design-related issues that arise during construction while maintaining design integrity.
  • Monitoring the quality of materials, finishes and construction techniques to ensure they align with the approved design and industry standards.
  • Conducting quality checks to maintain design aesthetics and functionality.
  • Ensuring that construction activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines, taking necessary measures to minimize risks on site.
  • Assess and comment on recommendations and information from other project consultants (e.g. MEP, Structural).
  • Attend and report at site meetings as required and check on progress.
  • Carry out site inspections, valuations, issue certificates and instructions as required.
  • Attend, report at and chair (as lead consultant) design team meetings with other project consultants, as required.
  • Prepare meeting records and agendas.
  • Manage project tender processes including attending contractor interviews, assessing tender returns and advising clients.
  •  Research materials and specifications, ensuring that where possible they adhere to firm’s ethos and environmental policy.
  •  Ensure firm’s library/database is updated with relevant information.
  • Manage design changes by adapting plans according to circumstances and resolve any related problems that may arise during construction.
  •  Maintain project files electronically and in hard copy, in line with project quality plan.
  • Undertake post completion assessment and de-brief for clients and building users.
  •  Provide progress updates to internal team and promptly communicate issues of concern
  • Continually improve the quality of the work, the way it is delivered, and the process employed to attain it. 
  • Follow architectural trends and advancements.
