Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) Ltd/Gte is recruiting a Project Coordinator (PC) based in Katsina. The PC will lead the implementation of projects in Katsina and Borno states, responsible for ensuring effective project delivery through strong coordination, quality assurance, monitoring, budget management, and compliance with donor and organizational requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mission 1: Ensure Effective Planning, Coordination and Quality Implementation of the Projects

  • Lead overall planning, implementation, and monitoring of CIFF and MBRG projects in accordance with approved proposals, work plans, budgets, and donor requirements
  • Develop and regularly update implementation plans, procurement plans, spending plans, and activity schedules
  • Ensure timely delivery of project activities and achievement of targets and indicators
  • Coordinate closely with technical departments, MEAL, logistics, finance, HR, and security teams to facilitate quality project implementation
  • Monitor project progress and identify implementation bottlenecks and corrective actions
  • Ensure integration of cross-cutting themes including gender, protection, accountability, safeguarding, and inclusion in all project activities
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation quality and provide technical and managerial support to project teams
  • Ensure project activities adhere to organizational policies, technical standards, and donor requirements

Mission 2: Budget Management and Resource Utilization

  • Manage project budgets and ensure efficient utilization of resources
  • Monitor monthly budget performance and burn rates
  • Review Budget Follow-Up (BFU) reports and identify risks of under-spending or over-spending
  • Develop corrective actions to address budget variances and implementation delays
  • Work closely with Finance and Grants teams to ensure compliance with donor regulations and internal financial procedures
  • Forecast project expenditures and support budget revisions when necessary
  • Ensure value for money and cost-effective implementation of project activities
  • Monitor project procurement plans in collaboration with Logistics and Supply Chain teams

Mission 3: Project Team Leadership and Staff Management

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to project staff
  • Ensure effective staff management, performance monitoring, coaching, and professional development
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, induction, and capacity building of project staff
  • Establish clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, collaboration, and effective communication among project teams
  • Ensure staff compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding standards, humanitarian principles, and code of conduct
  • Identify capacity gaps and coordinate training and mentoring opportunities for project staff

Mission 4: Monitoring, Reporting, Accountability and Learning

  • Ensure effective monitoring of project progress against approved indicators, targets, and work plans
  • Work closely with MEAL team to strengthen data quality, accountability, and learning systems
  • Review and validate project data, assessments, and monitoring reports
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of internal and donor reports
  • Facilitate regular project review meetings and action tracking
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories
  • Ensure community feedback and complaints mechanisms are functional and effective
  • Promote evidence-based decision-making and adaptive project management

Mission 5: Representation, Coordination and Partnership Management

  • Represent ACF in project-related meetings, coordination forums, technical working groups, and stakeholder engagements
  • Maintain strong working relationships with government authorities at state and local government levels
  • Coordinate with donors, UN agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Share project achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and key concerns with management and external stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and strategic partnerships
  • Support donor visits, monitoring missions, and external evaluations
  • Contribute to program development initiatives and proposal design processes as requested

Mission 6: Compliance, Risk Management and Program Quality

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, contractual obligations, and organizational policies
  • Monitor programmatic risks and implement mitigation measures
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, protection, fraud prevention, and accountability standards
  • Support internal and external audits, project reviews, and evaluations
  • Ensure timely documentation and filing of project records
  • Promote continuous improvement and learning throughout project implementation
  • Escalate critical implementation challenges and risks to senior management in a timely manner

Mission 7: Human Resources, Training and Capacity Building

  • Participate in recruitment and integration of project staff in consultation with Head of Department
  • Plan, with line managers, the induction and briefing of new project staff
  • Manage staff under direct supervision and create an enabling environment for effective implementation
  • Ensure operational supervision of project senior staff and contribute to their evaluation and action plan
  • Contribute to overall design of a capacity building plan for staff involved in the project

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, International Development, Public Health, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing humanitarian and development projects
  • Proven experience coordinating multi-sector projects in complex humanitarian settings
  • Strong project cycle management, planning, budgeting, and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supervising teams
  • Experience managing donor-funded and institutional grant projects
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with government authorities, donors, and humanitarian coordination platforms
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, standards, and safeguarding frameworks, including CHS and Sphere
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Experience working in Northeast and/or Northwest Nigeria, particularly in Borno and Katsina States, and implementing health, nutrition, protection, or resilience programmes is an advantage
