Responsible for the management of tea plantation and harvesting activities in order to achieve maximum productivity at minimum costs. S/He will oversee all daily operations at the farm, mechanical harvesting of tea leaves while ensuring good leaf quality is produced.


 General management and administration of the Estate Activities as follows;

  • To ensure there is the adequate human resource for estate operations.

  • To prepare the land and establish tea plantations following Company guidelines and recommendations.

  • To ensure good tea bush management and harvesting of quality leaf for the factory as per Company set standards/requirements.

  • To ensure that the estate activities conform to the various certification standards (e.g. Rain Forest Alliance). 


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, or any other related study.

  • At least (five) 5 years progressive work experience in a supervisory role in a tea farm.

  • Proven practical agronomic and senior management experience, with a reputable tea firm

  • Direct experience in engaging with stakeholders in an agricultural setup.

  • Knowledge of tea certification standards and processes.

  • Rain Forest Alliance certification will be an added advantage.

  • Direct and coordinate activities such as planting, pruning, plucking.

  • Ensure effective crop husbandry in the farm in order to maximize yield per unit area/bush.

  • Advise on weather patterns and appropriate months for pruning and fertilizer application.

  • Manage daily plucking/harvesting cycles to maximize on field production.

  • Manage labour costs.

  • Ensure effective and efficient utilization of farm inputs.

  • Ensure that Good Agricultural Practices and best operating practices are implemented and adhered to in the entire supply chain of green leaf from the farm to factory.

  • Manage all the transport logistics for the farm.

  • Accountable for the delivery of best quality of green leaf to the factory.

  • Communicate all field policies and procedures and manage field staff relations.

  • Build capacity of supervisors through relevant trainings to maximize on quality and production.

  • Ensure implementation of both Local and relevant international regulations as required by the relevant certification bodies.

  • Maintaining accurate records, preparing and presenting reports as required
