Job details
Description

To manage and optimize the health, productivity, and welfare of cattle, goats, and sheep.


Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement feed rations, including TMR, silage/hay integration, molasses, and urea-based fattening protocols, aligned with growth and production targets

  2. Monitor growth performance and maintain animal health protocols, including vaccination, deworming, routine disease surveillance, and early detection of health issues

  3. Supervise breeding programmes, including heat detection, breeding selection, calving/lambing, weaning, and castration

  4. Oversee young stock management and transition stages (weaning, grower, finishing)

  5. Maintain up-to-date livestock records and reporting systems, including digital records by species and production stage

  6. Supervise labour handling livestock and ensure best practices in animal handling, loading, transport, and biosecurity

  7. Liaise with the agronomy and feed teams to ensure feed availability and ration alignment with herd requirements

  8. Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards, halal requirements, and livestock transport regulations

  9. Monitor feed intake, body condition scores, and mortality trends, and recommend corrective actions where required

  10. Support livestock production planning, stocking rates, and herd performance forecasting


KPIs

  1. Weight gain benchmarks met per species

  2. Mortality rate <5%

  3. Accurate and complete records maintained per animal group

  4. Minimal disease outbreaks and rapid containment where incidents occur

  5. Feed utilisation efficiency aligned with ration plans
