Description

The Sales Trainee will support the sales team in driving revenue growth by promoting and selling company products within Nairobi. This is a field-based role focused on customer acquisition, onboarding, relationship management, and collections support.

The role is ideal for a proactive, results-driven individual looking to build a career in sales, with hands-on exposure to market analysis, client engagement, and commercial operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Certificate in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 Months to 1 year of relevant attachment or internship experience in sales and customer-facing roles is preferred.
  • Exposure to FMCG, agri-products, or cold-chain sales is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with B2B customers, agents, or distributors is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of credit management and collections is desirable.


Responsibilities

Sales Execution & Customer Acquisition

  • Identify and prospect new customers and business opportunities within assigned territories.
  • Generate leads and convert them into active customers.
  • Promote and sell company products, including fish, chicken, freezers, and related solutions.
  • Support onboarding of new clients and ensure smooth account activation.

Market Intelligence & Analysis

  • Gather insights on market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities
  • Provide feedback to support pricing strategies and sales planning
  • Monitor local market conditions and identify growth opportunities

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and agents
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts

Sales Support & Marketing Activities

  • Assist in developing and utilizing sales materials (presentations, proposals, product sheets)
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and promotional events
  • Support implementation of sales campaigns and marketing initiatives

Collections & Credit Management

  • Follow up on customer payments to ensure timely collections
  • Support adherence to company credit policies
  • Maintain accurate records of sales and payments

Operations Support

  • Assist in coordination of freezer installations and product deliveries
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of sales activities

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Sales Performance

  • Achieve assigned monthly sales targets (reviewed periodically based on market conditions)
  • Meet targets for revenue, volume, and product mix

Customer Acquisition

  • Generate a minimum of 20 leads per month
  • Convert at least 4 new customers monthly.
  • Contribute to the annual target of 20 B2B agents.

Account Management

  • Maintain active engagement across all assigned accounts
  • Achieve a churn rate of ≤18%

Operations

  • Support installation of at least 2 freezers per month

Collections

  • Ensure 100% collection of due payments for all sales
  • Maintain compliance with company credit terms
