Qualifications & Requirements

1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing 

2. Post Basic Course in a specialty nursing area is an added advantage 

3. At least 3 years’ experience working as a nurse lecturer with at least 1-year post-internship clinical experience 

4. Experience in coaching, mentoring and counselling learners 

5. Knowledge in curriculum development, implementation and review

3. At least 3 years’ experience working as a nurse lecturer with at least 1-year post-internship clinical experience 

4. Experience in coaching, mentoring and counselling learners 

5. Knowledge in curriculum development, implementation and review 


1. Teaching and learning – Utilize at least 80% of worktime teaching and assessing learners as per the subject allocation.

2. Support students – Provide motivation, mentorship and counselling support to students. 

3. Curriculum development – Participate in the development, implementation and review of the KRN curricula and course material as guided by Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK). 

4. Compliance– Ensure complete adherence to KRN training standards and professionalism as a Lecturer. Attend faculty meetings and partake in the CPD programs. 

5. Research – Participate in the guidance and supervision of students on their research projects. Play a role in the research activities of the school and the hospital; 

6. Managing resources – Ensure appropriate utilization of available resources and prudent cost cutting measures in daily operations. 

7. Innovation – Initiate, generate and implement creative teaching and learning strategies with an infusion of environmental conservation and sustainability. 

8. Co-curricular & Social and cooperate responsibility (SRC) – Take part in the institutional planned activities as required. 

9. Discipline – Demonstrate high level of self-discipline and ensure student’s adherence to established code of conduct.
