Description

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Ophthalmic Nursing, Ophthalmic Clinical Medicine, or related medical field from a recognized institution.
  • Additional training or specialization in Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery will be an added advantage.
  • Valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory body in Kenya.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council or relevant professional body where applicable.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience in ophthalmology services.
  • Experience in cataract surgery and ophthalmic procedures will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Strong patient management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organizational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.


Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage eye diseases and visual disorders.
  • Perform cataract surgeries and other ophthalmic procedures.
  • Conduct patient consultations, examinations, and follow-up care.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans.
  • Manage ophthalmic emergencies and complications effectively.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and surgical reports.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
  • Participate in medical outreach programs and eye screening activities.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical ethics, and Ministry of Health regulations.
