Purpose of the Role

Prepare and present quality beverages according to standard recipes. Assist to ensure the restaurant delivers the best possible results in People, Products, and Profit areas.

Purpose of the Role

Prepare and present quality beverages according to standard recipes. Assist to ensure the restaurant delivers the best possible results in People, Products, and Profit areas.

  • Be able to mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks.

  • Peel, slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.

  • Raise stores requisitions in time and obtain stock from the stores

  • Assessing bar customers’ needs and preferences and making recommendations

  • Maintain the set minimum stock levels in the bar at all times.

  • Undertake the weekly and monthly stock verification process

  • Mix all drinks based on the serving sizes as outlined in the company manual to keep drink costs at a minimum

  • Develop an efficient work pace that keeps the customers at the bar and in the dining room satisfied at all times

  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations, health, safety and hygiene standards and policies

  • Keep a daily record of happenings within the bar area including losses etc.

  • Ensure proper handover to the next barista at the close of each shift

  • Perform other tasks assigned within the scope of your duty.

  • Ensuring that the (HACCP) is adhered to on a daily basis by all members of staff


Qualifications & Key competencies/skills

  • Certificate from Barista training institute a MUST

  • At least 1 – 3 yrs’ experience in a busy restaurant

  • Excellent physical condition and stamina

  • Certificate for a barista course a MUST

  • Ability and previous experience in operating a coffee making machine

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a well-known Establishment

  • Must have lots of passion in coffee brewing and must know coffee

  • Fluency in English language

  • Coffee brewing knowledge

  • Good knowledge and experience in Cocktail making

  • Food & Beverage service techniques
