The Royal Danish Embassy in Nairobi represents Denmark in Kenya, Seychelles, Eritrea, Mauritius and Malawi as well as the United Nations in Nairobi.

The Royal Danish Embassy in Nairobi is looking for a dynamic full time Visa Officer with experience in handling Schengen visa applications to support the Danish visa case handling at the Regional Visa Hub at the embassy.

This is a possibility to work with experienced colleagues in a multicultural environment.

Job description

At the Regional Visa Hub in Nairobi, you will be part of a team with currently 16 colleagues.

Main responsibilities

  • Daily case processing of applications for Schengen visas
  • You will be making decisons in Schengen visa cases
  • Show great thoroughness and responsibility in your work
  • Ensuring compliance with the Schengen visa rules and Danish Visa Guidelines
  • Participate in relevant seminars and courses, video conferences and meetings.
    You will refer to the Team Leader of the Visa and Consular Team at the Regional
    Visa Hub at the Embassy in Nair
    obi.

About you

  • Applicant has to be a national of an EU / Schengen country

  • Experience with visa processing and the Schengen rules is an advantage

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of Nordic languages will be an advantage

  • Experience with public administration

  • Sound judgement abilities and great attention to details

  • Knowledge of working across cultures is an advantage

  • Robustness and ability to handle high-volume work situations in a competent and calm manner

  • Emphasis on thoroughness and ability to interact with the applicants and partners in a service-minded manner

  • Strong cross-cultural understanding and good social skills

  • Strong IT skills as all processing is done electronically

The Visa Officer will be employed according to regulations for local staff at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi. Employment is subject to successful security clearance obtained from the relevant Danish authorities.
