Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Master’s degree in library science, Information Science or Library studies from a recognized Institution. PhD Degree will be an added advantage
  2. Bachelor’s degree in library science, Information Science of Library studies from a recognized Institution
  3. Served as Assistant Librarian for a Minimum of three (3) years
  4. Published 1 article in a peer reviewed journal
  5. Evidence of professional growth and membership in a relevant Association
  6. Experience with library systems, Databases and Academic Information Resources
  7. Strong leadership, Management and communication skills


Responsibilities
  1. Plan for the continued growth of the library and the curriculum material center in collaboration with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs.
  2. Prepare strategic plans for the library and quarterly reports for the library.
  3. Compile statistics and reports relating to the use of the library.
  4. Supervise the work of library employees in cataloguing, classification, circulation, indexing and preservation of library materials.
  5. Ensure and maintain a studious atmosphere in the library.
  6. Receive and expedite all library book requests and periodically, within budget limitations.
  7. Make monthly reports on all acquisitions and additions for the departments, together with reports on unused funds for which no requests have been received.
  8. Work with Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs to increase the procurement of library books and subscription to electronic library resources.
  9. Ensure optimal utilization of library
  10. Keep abreast with new technological trends relevant to the library
  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and |Student Affairs.
