Job Brief
The Bakery Chef will be responsible for operating and monitoring multi-function process control machinery, including control panels, computer terminals, ovens, and other baking systems, to produce a variety of breads and pastries. The role involves preparing and baking different flavors and types of bread, cookies, croissants, and cakes while ensuring machines run smoothly, operate at optimum capacity, and are well-maintained. The Chef will also be accountable for quality control, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in the bakery.
Education and Key qualification Requirements
• HND in manufacturing, Engineering, Food Science, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a machine operator and exposure to operating Mixers, proofers, slicers,
packaging’s, and/or bagging machines.
• Ability to operate PLCs panels to control proper flow of product.
• KCSE qualification or related field preferred.
• Extensive work experience of over 3 years in a similar position is an advantage

Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a factory environment, stand for long periods, and handle materials up to 50kg; flexible with working hours, including weekends and overtime.
Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsible
• Machine operation Interpret work orders to determine the product and the quantities to be baked.
• Set up machines (calibration and cleaning) to start a production cycle
• Feed raw material to ovens to bake bread
• Set, control and adjust the operational speed of conveyors, baking times, and temperatures.
• Supervise the baking process and maintain oven operations in control.
• Fix issues that might occur during shift operation
• Check output to spot any machine -related flaws Check products to ensure conformance to
company standards and clear machine blockages as required.
• Make various adjustments (baking times, flow rates, temperatures, etc.) to achieve efficiencies.
• Ensure consistency on all doughs by adjusting processing equipment to meet quality standards.
• Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
• Maintain activity logs
• Record production information such as quantity, weight, size, date and type of products packaged.
• Perform corrective machine adjustments, clean machines and immediate work areas
• Check products to ensure conformance to company standards and clear machine blockages as
required
Material management
• Account inventory and raw materials used to support production plans.
