Description

Education and Qualifications:

  • A Diploma in law.

Key Competencies:

  • At least 1year experience with a law firm or legal aid service provider

Other Skills:

  • Demonstrable computer knowledge and applications and good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to ride a motor cycle.

  • Process server’s license is an added advantage

Responsibilities
  1. Conducting prison outreach programmes
  2. Interviewing and giving legal advice and counselling to clients, accused persons/prisoners
  3. Compiling relevant information of clients and forwarding it to Legal Officers for legal representation purposes.
  4. Conducting sensitization programs for prisoners on criminal Justice system and Human Rights.
  5. Acting as a link between the inmates / detainees and their relatives/sureties/ JLOS institutions in order to facilitate speedy trials and ADR.
  6. Facilitating reconciliation / Alternative Dispute Resolutions between the inmates/accused persons and the complainants where applicable.
  7. Preparing monthly activity reports.
  8. Filing of court documents
  9. Keeping the Legal Officer up to date on upcoming cases in court.
  10. Servicing of court process and other documents and correspondences.
  11. Collection and filing of court cause list.
  12. Any other lawful duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Head Legal Aid & Pro-bono Services, legal officers and any other supervisor.
