Qualifications & Experience:
1. A Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
2. Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
3. At least two (2) years of University teaching experience at the level of Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer or three (3) years teaching at Tutorial Assistant Level.
4. Should have undertaken a minimum of one academic research dissertation.
5. Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines; Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work by undergraduates and graduates.
6. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
7. Proven record of ability to conduct high-quality research which is reflected in the authorship of high-quality publications, or other research outputs, in the area of law.
8. Proven commitment to academic research, commitment to high-quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students, and commitment to continuous professional development.
9. Must be a committed and practicing Christian.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in areas allocated by the Dean of Faculty/Head of Department
2. To carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the school.
3. To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
4. To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
5. To assist in the development of learning materials and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
6. To supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate and post- graduate students.
7. To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
8. To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
9. To provide mentorship, internship and support to students.
10. To provide student support in pastoral roles, counselling and career guidance.
11. To participate in the administration of the department’s programs of study and other activities as requested.
