Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Automotive option), or a related field.
Accreditation:
- Must be NITA certified and eligible to train NITA courses.
- Must be TVET Authority (TVETA) accredited or registrable as a trainer.
Experience:
- Minimum 1–3 years relevant industry or teaching experience.
- Experience in vocational or technical training is an added advantage.
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage):
- Master Craftsperson Certification
- Automotive diagnostics or manufacturer-based certifications
Responsibilities
- Deliver automotive engineering theory and practical lessons as per NITA, KNEC and TVETA-approved curricula.
- Prepare lesson plans, training schedules, practical demonstrations, and workshop exercises.
- Train students in automotive systems including engines, electrical systems, transmission, braking, suspension, and vehicle diagnostics.
- Register students for NITA trade tests, KNEC Examinations and ensure compliance with assessment timelines.
- Conduct continuous assessments, practical evaluations, and mock trade tests.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of workshop tools and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
- Mentor students on work ethics, safety standards, and workplace readiness.
- Coordinate industrial attachments, exposure visits, and industry linkages.
- Participate in curriculum review, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditation exercises.
- Perform any other duties related to training and student development as assigned.
