Education

  • High school diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Business Administration or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • Good knowledge of the programme management cycle.
  • Good report writing skills, including preparation of results matrices and log frames.
  • Strong writing and communication skills; ability to prepare and present clear and concise reports in English.
  • Knowledge of donor management support, budgeting and donor financial rules and regulations.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of relational databases, Microsoft applications spreadsheets, word processing, etc. is essential.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Personal commitment, flexibility, efficiency, and drive for results; ability to conduct research and support decision-making under time pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with a wide cross-section of research partners: Government, NGOs, communities, academic institutions, media, and international donors.


Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of programme activities in line with approved workplans, budgets, and IOM procedures, with a focus on BMM thematic activities.
  • Compile, summarize, analyse, and present financial and programme data from country offices to support accurate reporting to donors and internal stakeholders, covering TiP/SoM-related data.
  • Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments as necessary.
  • Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc., with attention to regional coordination aspects.
  • Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures, highlighting implementation gaps where relevant.
  • Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation, with reference to thematic updates.
  • Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops, on migration management and protection.
  • Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project, related to migration
  • management and protection.
  • Monitor work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.
  • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects, contributing BMM-related inputs.
  • Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
