Requirements

  • Academic: Excellent academic qualifications, including a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (International Relations, Political Sciences, Social Research, Economics, Development Studies, or similar).
  • Familiarity aid system: Familiarity with the aid system, and the research community.
  • Cash and Market experience: Relevant experience either from an implementation or from a research perspective to Cash and Market programming in the humanitarian sector is preferred. Particular preference is given to candidates with experience in designing MEAL systems related to Cash and/or conducting cash related thematic research
  • Communication/reporting skills: Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting, including proven experience in contributing to high level presentations/briefings.
  • Years of work experience: At least 2-3 years of relevant working experience preferably in the humanitarian and research field or proven progression within IMPACT.
  • Research skills: Excellent research and analytical skills. Excellent quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, and data analysis experience required. Experience in assessments, M&E, field research, evaluations is an asset.
  • Software skills: Proven knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with R, SPSS and/or STATA or other statistical analysis software an asset.


Responsibilities

RESEARCH CYCLE MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure research methodology and tools reflect market functionality, supply chain dynamics in Nigeria, and align with partner capacities
  • Managing relevant research cycles end-to-end, including oversight of research design, data collection, or analysis.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables aligning outputs with partners programmatic objectives

CONTEXTUAL UNDERSTANDING

  • Develop an understanding of supply routes, cross-border flows and markets in the Nigerian context
  • Ensure dynamics of cash and markets in conflict settings are well reflected

RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Oversee the development, contextualization and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Support field teams in implementing data collection
  • Produce high quality research outputs in English.

STAFF MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING

  • Promote capacity building across the IMPACT/FACT Nigeria mission related to deepening analytical capacities using existing research (capacity building portfolio will depend on level of experience).
