Senior Civil Engineer
Description
- Supervise and manage civil construction activities from project commencement through completion.
- Coordinate and oversee multiple construction projects and ensure timely project delivery.
- Supervise contractors, subcontractors, site supervisors, artisans and other construction personnel.
- Interpret and implement engineering drawings, designs, specifications and construction plans.
- Oversee civil works including foundations, concrete works, structural works, earthworks, drainage, roads and other site development activities.
- Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment and other resources required for project execution.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify and resolve construction delays.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and project requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor the quality of workmanship and materials.
- Identify technical challenges on site and provide practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, MEP engineers, contractors, consultants and clients.
- Monitor material usage and construction activities to minimise wastage and control project costs.
- Participate in project and site meetings and provide regular progress reports to management.
- Review contractors' work and ensure completed works meet required standards.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including site reports, progress reports, inspection records and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements on all project sites.
- Support project testing, snagging, rectification and final handover activities.
- Travel to various project locations as required.
Requirements
- 9–15 years of relevant construction experience.
- Proven experience working on multiple construction projects.
- Strong practical knowledge of civil engineering and construction methods.
- Demonstrated experience in site supervision and project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and BOQs.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, processes and quality control.
- Experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong problem-solving and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to travel and work across different project locations in Nigeria.
- B.Sc. / B.Eng. in Civil Engineering is an advantage but not mandatory where the candidate has substantial and relevant practical construction experience.
- COREN registration or other relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
