Description

Qualifications

· Master’s or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related field.

· Additional certifications in radiation safety or cyclotron operations preferred.

· Strong technical knowledge of cyclotron systems, PET imaging, and radiochemistry.

· Proven ability to implement QA systems and regulatory compliance frameworks.

· Commitment to patient safety, continuous improvement, and clinical governance.

Experience

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cyclotron operations and PET physics.

· Demonstrated expertise in radionuclide production and radiation safety protocols.

· Prior experience in research and development in medical physics.

Responsibilities

Cyclotron Operations & Maintenance

· Oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the cyclotron facility.

· Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of cyclotron systems and associated equipment.

· Coordinate radionuclide production schedules to meet clinical demand for PET imaging.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

· Develop and implement QA protocols for cyclotron operations and radionuclide production.

· Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and radiation monitoring.

· Ensure compliance with Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) and international radiation safety standards.

Radiation Safety & Risk Management

· Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials.

· Implement emergency response protocols for cyclotron-related incidents.

· Provide radiation safety training and guidance to staff.

Research & Innovation

· Engage in research and development to optimize radionuclide production and enhance imaging applications.

· Contribute to clinical trials, protocol development, and departmental innovation projects.

· Publish and present research findings in peer-reviewed platforms and conferences.

Training & Mentorship

· Train and mentor junior physicists, technologists, and local staff on cyclotron operations and radiation safety.

· Build capacity and transfer knowledge to strengthen local expertise.

· Support academic collaborations with external institutions.
