About us
The Royal Danish Embassy in Nairobi represents Denmark in Kenya, Seychelles, Eritrea, Mauritius and Malawi as well as the United Nations in Nairobi.
The Royal Danish Embassy in Nairobi is looking for a dynamic and empathetic full time Consular Officer to spearhead the Embassy’s consular response, both in terms of support to Danish citizens and case processing of passport applications. This is a possibility to work with experienced colleagues in a multicultural environment.
You will be part of the visa- and consular team at the Royal Danish Embassy that serves as visa hub for the entire region. You will be joining a team of presently 16 full time colleagues.
Main responsibilities
Answering the consular phone and consular mailbox incl. general consular enquiries from Danish nationals and requests from Danish authorities
Handling of concrete consular cases in Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles, Somalia and Eritrea
Receiving and processing passport applications
Cooperation and communication with Honorary Consuls in side accredited countries
Legalisation of documents
Assisting the visa case processing with various ad hoc tasks
Participate in relevant seminars and courses, video conferences and meetings.
You will refer to the Team Leader of the Visa and Consular Team at the Regional Visa Hub at the Embassy in Nairobi.
About you
Experience with public administration, preferably from the social sector
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency of Danish, both verbally and in writing, is further considered a strong advantage
Sound judgement abilities and great attention to details
Working experience from a multicultural environment and very strong social,interpersonal, and communication skills
Robustness and ability to handle high-pressure work situations in a competent and calm manner
Emphasis on thoroughness and ability to interact with citizens in a service- minded manner
Strong capabilities in writing – presenting cases in a clear, focused, and action oriented way.

The Consular Officer will be employed according to regulations for local staff at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi. Employment is subject to successful security clearance obtained from the relevant Danish authorities.
