Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • i. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade D (Plain) or Division IV in Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE);
  • ii. Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education offered by KNEC /Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent;
  • iii. Certificate in Computer Applications;
  • iv. Registered by Teachers Service Commission (TSC); and
  • v. Valid certificate of Good Conduct from the DCI.


Responsibilities

i. Facilitating play/learning activities to enable children cope with primary school life;

ii. Identifying children with special needs;

iii. Ensuring safe custody of leaning resources;

iv. Caring and nurturing spiritual, moral, social, mental and physical growth of children;

v. Preparing and maintaining professional records (schemes of work, lesson plans, attendance registers and daily programme of activities); and

vi. Ensuring children’s cleanliness, welfare, health, nutrition, safety and security.
