Background
GIZ has been in operation in Kenya since 1975 as commissioned by the Kenyan government. The current thematic areas for the ministry for economic cooperation and development are in the areas of agriculture, food security and Sustainable Economic Development. In addition to the already mentioned focus areas, there are also projects in the sectors of good governance, energy and migration. Other activities GIZ also engages in are in the sectors of economy and sport for development. Furthermore, GIZ using the Civil Peace Service, supports dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution of societal conflicts in Kenya.
GIZ also implements on behalf of the federal ministry for environment, nature conservation and nuclear safety, projects in the fields of environment and climate. The goal of GIZ is to support the capacity development of people, organisations and institutional structures in the partner countries so as to enable them better their living conditions through their own efforts. A. Responsibilities
The HR Specialist is responsible for: -
Implementation of national staff policies in line with GIZ P + R and local conditions
Employment Contract Management
Records management/ DMS Management
Leave management.
Exit management
The HR Specialist performs the following tasks:
B. Tasks
Manage employee contracts and support in onboarding
Contribution in implementation of HR policies and procedures
Manage leave plans ensuring accuracy.
Maintain all HR databases ensuring accurate records
Coordinate the off-boarding process
Ensure that all inquiries in the HR office are dealt with promptly and courteously
Perform any other assignments given by the head of HR
Ensure adherence to Kenya Labor standards and GIZ policies on employee documentation
Using HR metrics, prepare data analysis reporting to inform decisions
C. Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
Professional experience
Knowledge of best practices and approaches in human resource management.
Expertise in HR records management
Knowledge of the Kenyan Labour Laws
Knowledge of developing HR policies, procedures and processes.
Experience in HR data analytics
Exceptionally self-motivated and directed.
Exceptional service orientation.
Outstanding communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and facilitation skills.
High level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
Must be a self-starter and highly organized,
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Ability to manage a large flow of information
Other knowledge, additional competences
Knowledge of the German language is an added advantage
Awareness of how to handle HR
issues appropriately (confidentiality, data protection)
Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed
