Required Qualifications
  1. MBA (Finance/Accounting option) or MSc. Finance and Accounting with full professional accounting Certificate from a recognized institution.
  2. An Honour’s Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Finance/Accounting) or Finance or Certified Public Accountant (Uganda) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) from a recognized institution.
  3. Must be a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience at the level Finance Officer in a reputable organisation.


Responsibilities
  1. Process payments in accordance with the University guidelines
  2. Maintain payroll system including tracking benefits and ensuring compliance with applicable taxes and other deductibles
  3. Prepare the annual program budgets
  4. Ensure timely accountability of Program funds
  5. Coordinate the proper documentation, timely processing and archiving of financial documents
  6. Support the internal and external audit processes by providing the supporting financial documents
  7. Support all Program Staff in the procurement processes in liaison with Makerere University Procurement and Disposal Unit
  8. Monitor budget performance
  9. Closely coordinate with the banking service provider to operationalize the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding
  10. Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation
  11. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
