Description

Education and Qualifications:

  1. LLB and post graduate diploma in legal practice
  2. Must possess a valid practicing certificate
  3. At least 5 years of professional litigation experience and qualified to appear before the High Court.
  4. Ability to speak local languages is an added advantage.


Responsibilities
  1. Provision of general Legal counsel to indigent, vulnerable and Marginalised Persons.
  2. Drafting and preparation of Legal and Court Documents.
  3. Representing the Employer’s clients in courts of law, mediation/arbitration proceedings and or other tribunals.
  4. Representing the Employer at forums and meetings with donors, partners, etc.
  5. Formulation of articles for the Employer’s Journals and newsletters.
  6. Supervise all Pro-bono activities generally
  7. Preparation and submission of monthly Progress and Activity reports
  8. Maintaining proper and up-to-date client’s records and files.
  9. Overall management and supervision of the Legal Aid Work
  10. Ensure proper use and care of all assets belonging to the Employer.
  11. Supervise and appraise staff under his or her supervision. The appraisal shall be done together with the Head Legal Aid & Pro bono Services.
  12. Manage the Legal Aid office.
  13. Carry out any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Department, Legal Aid Services and or any other supervisor.
