Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • The applicant for the role should have a minimum of a Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development or any related relevant field from a reputable institution.
  • At least a minimum of two years’ working experience in the similar role or special needs children.
  • Demonstrate understanding of working with special needs young adults.
  • Practice resilience and self-care.
  • Show empathy and listen actively.
  • Have physical and emotional endurance.
  • Ability to make informed, and effective decisions.
  • Possess effective communication skills.


Responsibilities
  • Contribute towards the young adults’ overall well-being and growth that promote independence and consistency
  • Ensure that the young adults follow their daily schedules and accomplish daily activities.
  • Engage young adults in structured physical exercises, cognitive activities, and social-emotional learning tailored to their abilities.
  • Facilitate play-based and skills-based activities to support growth in line with Watoto’s emphasis on talent development.
  • Foster holistic development for the young adults in care.
  • Collaborate with social care and healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct periodic assessments and reports on young adults’ activities and behaviour.
  • Maintain up-to-date individual files, attendance logs, activity trackers, and incident reports
  • Participate in case review meetings and contribute to the individual development plans update.
  • Work collaboratively with other Mothers, caregivers, medical team, and administrative staff
  • Refer young adults to medical or other partners for case management as need arises.
  • Participate in ongoing training in development, special needs care, safeguarding, and first aid
  • Respond to crisis situations with immediate support and intervention.
