Job Summary

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:Advanced higher degree (Master’s or equivalent) related to sustainable development, environment and/or climate change;
Required experience: 24 Months

Experience remark:

At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in project design, climate services or other relevant programmes;
Expertise in Environment/ Climate Change an advantage;
Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
Sound security awareness;

Responsibilities

Description of taskUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer/Portfolio Manager/Project Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Support oversight, revision and monitoring of project “716.1: Capacity building for national and regional environmental information and knowledge management” and its activities to ensure they are on track and any issues are resolved promptly.
Maintain an overview of the status of project activities in different regions, issue alerts and propose remedial measures when necessary.
Coordinate periodic progress reporting in required formats, portals and platforms.
Maintain close communication with project focal points in different Regional Offices and ensure responsiveness to their requests.
Facilitate the project’s internal liaison and coordination within the Division and with other relevant technical teams in UNEP
Drafting, reviewing and editing a variety of reports, studies and other documents.
Documenting lessons learnt in the implementation the project activities.
Support administrative coordination of projects implementation activities, involving extensive liaison with the diverse organizational units to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances.
Support the development of a coherent strategy for Capacity Development for the Science Division.
