Qualifications / Experience
  • Post-graduate education (master’s or higher) in medicine, public health, health sciences, international development, health sciences, or other fields related to the activity’s focus.
  • A recognized degree in medical science, public health, management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, showcasing leadership and managerial prowess.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience, demonstrating a history of fostering collaboration and delivering top-tier outcomes
  • Prior success in overseeing comparable or larger donor-funded initiatives is preferred.
  • Thorough familiarity with USAID regulations and administrative procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to take bold initiative, exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset, and excel in problem-solving.
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the capacity to cultivate and sustain relationships across all levels.
  • Experience in effectively managing multiple projects within Africa and closely collaborating with governmental entities to achieve results will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, fluid team setting with multiple stakeholders. 
  • Proven experience supervising and mentoring staff. 
  • The successful candidate must be a person of integrity with excellent oral and written communication skills, highly analytical, with expert interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural skills.

Job Summary
The Programme Director will spearhead all aspects of this groundbreaking project, overseeing its strategic direction, implementation, and successful achievement of objectives. Your leadership will be instrumental in enhancing the sustainability and quality of family planning, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health services, alongside malaria prevention efforts. Moreover, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering crucial health behaviors and strengthening the governance of Nigeria's Ministry of Health and Sanitation at various levels.

This role offers a unique opportunity for both Nigerian and international candidates to contribute to meaningful change in healthcare delivery. It will be based in Nigeria and offered on a fixed-term contract, subject to successful award.

Roles and Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure the effective implementation of program activities.
  • Act as the primary liaison between SFH Health and USAID, ensuring the project's success and upholding the highest standards of service quality.
  • Safeguard SFH Health's reputation by maintaining financial, contractual, technical, and political integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and the wider team to develop and execute the project's results framework, performance monitoring plan, and technical strategy.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of key findings and deliverables to maximize project impact and contribute to future business development efforts. 
  • Ensure strict adherence to contract terms, SFH Health and donor policies, and standard operating procedures throughout project implementation.
  • Align project staffing, organizational structure, and reporting relationships with project needs and local contexts.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the project team, fostering collaboration and facilitating professional growth. 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, beneficiaries, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Identify and pursue emerging business opportunities, effectively communicating them to relevant stakeholders within SFH.
