The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the head of the Secretariat of the Uganda Law Society. working under the supervision of the Council (ULS Council) of the Uganda Law Society to oversee the society's mandate. This role plays a pivotal part in executing the ULS's strategic objectives, leading the society and its strategic partners deliverables, and ensuring the achievement of financial goals. The CEO is responsible for providing strong leadership. facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and assisting the Executive Council in driving the society's success.


Requirements

• A bachelor's level degree or higher in Law, economics, business management administration, development economics, project management, or related field

• Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Administration and Management is an added advantage.

• At least 6 years working experience in top management, business development or similar roles in a large reputable organization or Law Firm with complex environments.

• Collaborate with the Executive Council, ULS management team, Donor Funded Executive Teams to develop and execute the ULS Strategic plan. Drive the implementation of key strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

• Oversee various operational functions. including stakeholder management, members affairs, legal aid projects, risk management, compliance, and customer service. Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes and make improvements as necessary.

• Oversee ULS and Legal Aid Projects

• financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Identify opportunities for resource mobilization and cost optimization.

• Oversee research, project writing and proposals to enable sustainability.

• Oversee successful implementation of ULS Resource management events. Play a key role in identifying. assessing, and mitigating risks across the organization. Ensure that risk management practices adhere to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

• Collaborate with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure that ULS's operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries and audits as needed. Oversee the implementation of Rule of Law and Litigation requirements as per the organization's mandate.

• Provide leadership and mentorship to the management team.

• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Support efforts to enhance member satisfaction and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.

• Engage with members, partners,

• stakeholders and ULS Council as needed.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.

• Work with the technology team to assess and implement digital transformation initiatives.
