Company Overview
Afstor Energy Limited is a renewable energy and clean cooking company focused on decentralized energy solutions and smart technology integration. The company operates local assembly, installation, IoT monitoring and after-sales support operations in Kenya while scaling deployment across East Africa.
Position Summary
The IT Manager will be responsible for both the company’s internal IT infrastructure and the operational management of IoT-related systems connected to Afstor Solar Cookers. The role combines traditional office IT management responsibilities with operational management of SIM card subscriptions, telecom operator portals, IoT connectivity and device data management. The IT Manager will support the company’s growing installed device base and ensure reliable connectivity, monitoring and data availability for operational and carbo finance purposes.


Responsibilities
Office IT Infrastructure
  • Manage the company’s office IT systems, computers and user support
  • Maintain office network infrastructure, internet connectivity and internal systems
  • Manage company domains, email systems, cloud services and user accounts
  • Coordinate IT procurement, hardware setup and software licensing
  • Ensure data security, backups and cybersecurity best practices
IoT & Device Connectivity Management
  • Manage IoT systems and connectivity related to Afstor Solar Cookers
  • Coordinate SIM card management and subscription administration for installed devices
  • Manage telecom operator portals and monitor subscription status
  • Ensure stable communication and data flow from installed cookstoves
  • Support troubleshooting of connectivity and remote monitoring issues
Data & Systems Management
  • Support operational data collection and reporting systems
  • Coordinate device monitoring platforms and IoT dashboards
  • Support data management related to operational monitoring and carbon finance requirements
  • Assist management with reporting, analytics and operational system integration
Technical Support
  • Provide day-to-day IT support for office staff and operational teams
  • Support installation and after-sales teams with technical system issues
  • Coordinate external IT service providers and telecom operators when necessary
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, procedures and user guidelines
Operational Development
  • Participate in development of scalable IoT management systems as the installed base grows
  • Support implementation of new operational technologies and software tools
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of operational IT systems and processes
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in IT administration or IT management
  • Experience with networking, system administration and user support
  • Understanding of IoT systems, SIM management or telecom integrations is highly preferred
  • Experience with cloud systems, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace environments
  • Experience working in operational or industrial environments is an advantage
Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple systems and operational priorities simultaneously
