Description
Qualifications & Experience
Typically 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience specifically within the Food & Beverage or Bottling industry is a major advantage.
Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of Nigerian environmental and safety regulators, including NESREA (Federal), LASEPA (Lagos-specific), and the Federal Fire Service.
Safety Management Systems: Proficiency in ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).
FMCG Hazards: Practical knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) within a manufacturing context.
Responsibilities
STRIVE
- Assist Safety Manager in the coordination of SHE Management Systems in the plant, head office and external warehouses in line with the company’s acceptable standards, OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 EMS
- Assist Safety manager in working with HODs and administrative teams to identify occupational and environmental hazards and to introduce suitable controls in the offices and warehouses.
- Follow up on agreed control measures to ensure safe work practices.
ACCOUNTABILITY
- Ensure general good housekeeping of work areas, car parks, lawns, drains, waste segregation facilities and area. Generate relevant report for the Safety manager.
- Follow-up stock level to ensure the availability, distribution and use of relevant personal protective equipment.
- Keep ALL records (soft and hard copies) and ensure their accessibility by authorized persons.
- Support the development of SHE policies and programs.
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
BONDING
- Establishes and maintains productive relationships with team and external stakeholders
- Ensures training programmes are attended by all nominated team members. Follows up on implementation of learnings
- Builds and reinforces relationships with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Planning and relevant government regulatory agencies.
INNOVATION
- Learns and implements best practices from outside and shares own best practices within SBC
- Promotes process automation and use of technology within the business
