Kibanda TopUp is growing very fast, and key to that growth is talent. Without a strong team we are not going to continue to grow & build the business. We need to think strategically about what talent to attract, how to get them, how to retain them, and how to support them in their career growth. 

We are looking for someone to take ownership of the employee experience at Kibanda TopUp. This is not someone who thinks about an HR policy manual as being the answer to designing the employee experience, but rather looks at the full value proposition towards employees and works to improve that. This person thinks strategically about the role of Kibanda TopUp as an employer, while working hard to implement that vision and attract & retain the best talent.

  • Define the strategic pillars on which the People department should be built
  • Define the Employee Value Proposition & employee journey (incl. department nuances) and make a plan for roll-out
  • Take full ownership of all people processes, and lead the performance management process
  • Create & continuously update a future-looking org chart with identified skills & people gaps
  • Design a Learning & Development program and implement
  • Track employee NPS, and continuously work on further improving the candidate & employee experience

Who you are

We are looking for someone with passion for building the best place to work. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a solid understanding of importance of talent density and what measures can build this
  • Has a strong backbone in recruitment, specifically in defining people needs and assessing senior talent
  • Can translate company values and Employee Value Proposition into day-to-day practices
  • Has working knowledge of Kenyan and/or Nigerian employment regulations
  • Is an extremely good communicator (written & verbal) with all levels of staff
  • Is diligent in process design, implementation, and follow-up

We believe that a great Head of People can come from many industry and organizational backgrounds and there is no set years of experience that is required for a talented person to fill this role. However, preference will be given to the following:

  • Someone in a People strategy / operations at a high-growth start-up
  • Someone working as a People (development) manager at a larger company that is known for talent development and good employee proposition

This role can be based in either Nairobi or Lagos.
