We invite applications for the post of Factory Electrician, which has arisen in our Tea Estate Division. This is a junior management position within our structure.

THE JOB

Administratively reporting to the Assistant Factory Manager and functionally to the Electrical Engineer, the Factory Electrician is responsible for the electrical operations and maintenance at the factory unit. Will work closely in conjunction with the Factory Foreman, the Factory Assistants, and other section leaders under the guidance of senior management to ensure safe and effective supply of power for production of high-quality teas while conserving the environment, maintaining a safe workplace, fostering good human resource practices, and upholding overall company values, policies, and subscribed standards.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

  • EPRA Licence Class C1 necessary.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a general
    electrical role with 3 years in a busy manufacturing set-up.

  • Computer Literate.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Good organising and planning skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum
    supervision.

  • Must be a team player.

Responsibilities
  • In close liaison with factory senior management and professional guidance from the Electrical Engineer, oversee and execute factory electrical operations of the factory within the set professional rules of the electrical function.

  • In conjunction with systems operators, regulate and coordinate transmission loads and frequencies, and line voltages of power supply to the factory.

  • Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.

  • Prepare daily work schedules in liaison with Factory Management.

  • Allocate duties and supervise personnel in a timely and efficient manner to avoid disruption of the daily schedule.

  • Set up an effective system that covers the general maintenance of each piece of electrical equipment & machinery.

  • Implement cost control measures by providing reliable estimates of materials required for various jobs and optimum utilization of electrical resources.

  • Ensure all repairs done are to the required standard/specifications.

  • Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.

  • Reporting: Prepare respective operations reports of production as required from time to time.

  • Play a collaborative role in dealing with cross-functional sections to ensure effective team performance
