  • The successful incumbent will be responsible for identifying key industries in Eastern Africa, collaborate across units for growth while ensuring compliance with BASF`s guidelines, and focus on increasing sales in key regions. Lead direct reports, overseeing their performance, talent development, and career growth.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or similar tertiary qualification coupled with 8 years of experience in relevant industries, focused on sales and marketing
  • Solid business acumen, industry understanding, and strong communication skills for a complex multi-industry environment
  • Exceptional analytical abilities with proficiency in verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented individual capable of prioritizing tasks; a proactive team player working towards common goals
  • Willing and motivated to travel widely


Responsibilities

Duties will include the following:

  • Stay updated on regional business developments, represent BASF in high-level meetings, and coordinate with BUs on operations and priorities
  • Manage local sales/business development teams and identify opportunities across various sectors
  • Participate in cross-BU sales/market activities; manage sales projects, market surveys, value chains for key/target industries
  • Consult with BUs seeking a regional presence while providing industry insights for establishing their local presence
  • Lead strategy implementation reviews; stay informed of industry trends/potentials; explore digitalization; coordinate planning/target agreement processes within country clusters
  • Ensure seamless S&OP processes with customers, leading customer-focused Sales Team to optimize market share/profit margins and maintain long-term competitiveness
  • Encourage innovation/product launches among team members and ensure active communication between XBU's while executing DMAS (Designated market area) strategies with respective BUs
  • Execute strategies for business management/sub-regional growth/local presence/support cross regional project implementation/customer focus groups/local investment projects/acquisitions/etc.
  • Manage LCP (Local Champions) ensuring cross-BU coordination
  • Proactively interact with regional/national key accounts aligned with DMAS strategy
