Required Qualifications for the Position
- Holder of HND or BSC in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution
- Must have current KMLTTB license
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a laboratory technologist in a busy hospital laboratory
- Minimum 3 years of experience in biochemistry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Keen on detail with high degree of accuracy
- High degree of administrative capability and good leadership skills
- In depth knowledge regarding ISO 15189 will be an added advantage
Responsibilities

- Receiving patient samples for laboratory analysis
- Ensure all lab test procedures are conducted as per the SOPs
- Participate in continuous medical education programs of the department
- Assist in training of new staff and students on internship
- Write and review SOPs
- Monitor turnaround times
- Monitor reagents and supplies to ensure the department has enough supplies while ensuring maximum utilization and efficiency
- Ensure compliances of all the daily quality assurance requirements in the sections
- Perform daily equipment maintenance and track planned preventive maintenance
- Participate in department and hospital CMEs
- Liaise with Laboratory Manager on new laboratory procedures to ensure that the laboratory is abreast with fast developing technology
- Market services offered in the department
- Supervise the daily performance of laboratory technologists assigned to the section
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Laboratory Manager or designee from time to time
