• Minimum 5–7 years of legal practice experience, with strong exposure across the three core subject matter areas.

• Must have actively practised law as an advocate, with a demonstrable track record of handling client matters, court appearances, and/or transactional work in at least one of the core subject matter areas (Commercial Law, Conveyancing, or Probate & Succession).

• Demonstrable experience in legal training, lecturing, CPD facilitation, or mentoring — formal or informal. Previous or current university lecturing experience is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with adult learning principles and competency-based training design.

• Excellent command of legal writing and oral communication; ability to explain complex legal concepts with clarity and practical application.

COMPETENCIES & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Commanding subject matter expertise with intellectual credibility among practicing advocates.

• Strong facilitation, presentation, and coaching skills — the ability to hold a room and make complex concepts accessible and engaging.

• Structured thinking and ability to design progressive, practical learning curricula.

• Highly organised with strong attention to detail in the development of training materials.

• A collaborative professional who can work within a commercial law firm environment.

• Commitment to continuous professional development and knowledge currency.

Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and deliver structured training programmes covering Commercial Law, Conveyancing Law, and Probate & Succession matters.

• Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps in the market and tailor training content accordingly.

• Develop comprehensive training materials including manuals, workbooks, case studies, precedents, and practical exercises.

• Facilitate interactive workshops, masterclasses

• Keep training content current with amendments to Kenyan legislation, recent court judgements, and evolving legal practice standards.

• Collaborate with the partners to identify training priorities and support the firm’s knowledge management and dissemination strategy.

• Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing through seminars, briefing notes, and legal updates.

SUBJECT MATTER AREAS — CORE COMPETENCY REQUIRED

• Commercial Law: Contract drafting and negotiation, corporate transactions, business structuring, commercial dispute resolution, secured lending, and regulatory compliance.

• Conveyancing Law: Land transactions, leases, searches, land registration under the Land Registration Act 2012, stamp duty, and property due diligence under the Kenyan legal framework.

• Probate & Succession: Grant of probate and letters of administration, intestate succession under the Law of Succession Act (Cap 160), estate administration, and beneficiary rights.
