ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Advocate Trainer to design and deliver professional trainings for the firm’s audiences. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong academic grounding and practical experience in Commercial Law, Conveyancing Law, and Probate & Succession matters, coupled with a demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, educative trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• LLB degree from a recognised university and valid admission to the Bar (LSK membership) — mandatory.
• LLM or postgraduate qualification in a relevant legal specialisation will be a significant advantage.
• Minimum 5–7 years of legal practice experience, with strong exposure across the three core subject matter areas.
• Must have actively practised law as an advocate, with a demonstrable track record of handling client matters, court appearances, and/or transactional work in at least one of the core subject matter areas (Commercial Law, Conveyancing, or Probate & Succession).
• Demonstrable experience in legal training, lecturing, CPD facilitation, or mentoring — formal or informal. Previous or current university lecturing experience is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with adult learning principles and competency-based training design.
• Excellent command of legal writing and oral communication; ability to explain complex legal concepts with clarity and practical application.

Responsibilities
• Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps in the market and tailor training content accordingly.
• Develop comprehensive training materials including manuals, workbooks, case studies, precedents, and practical exercises.
• Facilitate interactive workshops, masterclasses
• Keep training content current with amendments to Kenyan legislation, recent court judgements, and evolving legal practice standards.
• Collaborate with the partners to identify training priorities and support the firm’s knowledge management and dissemination strategy.
• Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing through seminars, briefing notes, and legal updates.
SUBJECT MATTER AREAS — CORE COMPETENCY REQUIRED
• Commercial Law: Contract drafting and negotiation, corporate transactions, business structuring, commercial dispute resolution, secured lending, and regulatory compliance.
• Conveyancing Law: Land transactions, leases, searches, land registration under the Land Registration Act 2012, stamp duty, and property due diligence under the Kenyan legal framework.
• Probate & Succession: Grant of probate and letters of administration, intestate succession under the Law of Succession Act (Cap 160), estate administration, and beneficiary rights.
