Job Summary

SokoFresh
is on a mission to unlock the use of professional equipment and services by
smallholder farmers through as-a-service models. We are now working on ‘cold
storage as a service’, market linkage and processing of export reject produce.
Our ambition is to increase farmer incomes, increase the flow of nutritious
food to the market, and reduce the strain of agriculture on the environment.Your
role in SokoFresh
As the
Sales & Business Development Manager of SokoFresh you work closely together
with the CEO to build a strong commercial foundation for this start-up. Working
in a small team with ambitious growth targets requires you to be
entrepreneurial, creative and pro-active to chase new opportunities and
maintain strong relationships with the many stakeholders we deal with. One day
you will sign an off-take contract with a large mango exporter, the next you
are engaging with a county government to secure a new location for an avocado processing
facility and an hour later you are in a meeting to determine the expansion
strategy to a new county or country.You will
lead the expansion of our B2B customer base, perfect our sales propositions and
have a strategic approach towards partnership building. Requirements
Who You
Are
We are
looking for a highly motivated and effective deal-closer and networker, based
in Nairobi, who can be the powerful force behind a quickly growing startup in a
blue ocean environment. You will play an essential role in creating market
awareness, identifying prospective clients, qualifying leads and generating new
business for the company. You are driven by the spirit of collaboration and
impact. You strive for commercial results while setting the bar high for
quality in delivery. You can forge and develop new collaborations and adopt
business acumen and strategic thinking. Experience
in a sales / business development role in agritech, logistics, equipment leasing
or another role related to fresh food value chains is a plus. You have a track
record in B2B sales and business development.

B2B customer acquisition: Identify, build and maximize commercial opportunities to grow
SokoFresh’s revenues through existing and new clients with whom you will
target, initiate and develop business relationships. You will be responsible
for specific sales and growth targets. You will relentlessly seek
out new potential clients to prospect via phone calls, emails,  meetings, conferences etc at volume with an
eye toward exceeding expectations.·        
Business Development: Approaching new contacts feels like an exciting game for you. You apply
your excellent communication skills to listen to customers and translate their
challenges into opportunities for the company. Clients appreciate the fact that
we are knowledgeable on their needs and always look for shared value creation. ·        
Results: You
are result driven. You want to make the most out of every opportunity and have
a high sense of responsibility. ·        
Product & proposition development: We are only just starting, and you are our
eyes and ears. You are able to merge customer needs with our product offering
and help us develop better products and services.Skills

Essential

You are technically savvy with an ability to
quickly learn and assimilate domain knowledge of the Agritech areas we serve.·        
Strong
strategic acumen coupled with execution capability.·        
You
have completed a bachelor and/or master study. ·        
7+
years of working experience in a B2B environment. Preferred
Strong
preference will be given to candidates with:·        
meaningful
experience within food systems / agriculture.·

established broad network of key stakeholders and individuals.·
