Qualifications/special skills

  • An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in gender studies, sustainable transport, urban planning, or related fields is required. A first level degree with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience working on sustainable transport, electric mobility, and/or gender is required. Proven expertise in sustainable transport projects within Asia Pacific is required. Solid understanding of electric mobility technologies, trends, and policy frameworks is required.
  • Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement, technical writing, presentation, and effective communication are required.
  • Proven experience in event planning and logistics is desirable. Prior experience working in an international organization or government agency is desirable. Strong knowledge of gender mainstreaming in development and transport contexts is desirable. Familiarity with national and international development frameworks, including experience with donor-funded projects is desirable.


Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Asia Pacific Regional Mobility Lead, with close consultation with the Gender Focal Point of UNEP’s SMU, the consultant will be responsible for the following specific tasks:
  • Baseline Study on End-of-Life Management of Electric Two- and Three-Wheeler (E2/3W) Batteries in Asia-Pacific, covering at least three countries, including methodology, stakeholder mapping, regulatory analysis, mapping of end-of-life pathways (collection, repair, reuse, repurposing, recycling), scalability assessment, and regionally applicable recommendations
  • Gender-Transformative Technician Training Framework (5–7 pages), drawing on lessons from six BMZ pilot projects- Kenya, Uganda, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ecuador and Colombia, providing practical guidance on inclusive curriculum design, gender-responsive delivery models, and enabling ecosystems for women’s meaningful participation, accompanied by dissemination-ready presentation slides
  • Delivery of a Regional Thematic Accelerator on Industry and Gender in E-Mobility, in collaboration with regional partners, including an agenda, participant list, background materials, and a comprehensive event report capturing key insights and next steps
  • Delivery of a Joint Networking Event on Gender, Energy, and Transport at the BAQ Asia Conference, including agenda development, participant outreach and coordination, and a concise event summary report
  • Implementation support to BMZ-Funded Programme Phase III in Jakarta, focused on increasing women’s participation in the e-mobility sector, including documented stakeholder engagement at national and municipal levels, meeting notes, activity updates, and inputs to programme reports in line with BMZ and UNEP requirements. Including a guidance note on institutionalizing gender-responsive training pathways in Indonesia.
