The GIZ Country Office is currently looking to fillthe position of Procurement and Contracting Specialist.



Responsibilities

Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German
Government in achieving its development-policy objectives.

The GIZ Country Office is currently looking to fillthe position of Procurement and Contracting Specialist.



  • Contributes to effective and efficient operation and service delivery of the
    • procurement and logistics unit in compliance with GIZ’s Process and Rules
(P+R) and according to service level agreements

  • Contributes to the achievement of the annual targets of the unit

  • Cooperates effectively and efficiently with projects on ongoing supports

  • Monitors closely procurement planning and provides regular updates on ongoing
    • activities
  • Handles procurement requests for local subsidies, financing agreements &
    • Development Partnerships
  • Maintains the professional relationship between CO and projects as well as within
    • the team member
  • Shares opinion before processing a decision inside or outside GIZ

  • Provides a roadmap of upcoming operations falling under his/her responsibilities.

  • Advises projects regarding procurement issues and challenges in time

  • Makes available expertise in the context of knowledge management and advises parties on
    • issues relating to his responsibility
  • Procures materials and equipment locally, monitor markets, issues invitations to tender and processes orders in
    • accordance with GIZ regulations
  • Handles procurement requests for local consultants and consulting firm contract

  • Documents and files properly completed orders

  • Advises Head of Procurement and Operations Unit on questions relating to his responsibility.

  • Advises commission managers/project team on questions relating to procurements and contracts.

  • Updates local market situations to program manager and Unit Head

  • performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

    • Qualification

    •  MSc/MBA/master’s degree in law, economics, or similar area

    Professionalexperience


    •   At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position

    • Outstanding knowledge of purchasing/procurement of services andgoods


  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software,phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)


  • Very good knowledge of the European language widely used in thecountry, ideally a knowledge of German


  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed
