PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for preparing and analysing financial information to facilitate management’s decision making. Provide support by liaising with other departments on all finance matters, budgetary management and control. Also responsible for financial reporting and submission of statutory returns to authorities and ensure that the general finance and accounting operations are carried out in compliance with the relevant legislation.


Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for preparing and analysing financial information to facilitate management’s decision making. Provide support by liaising with other departments on all finance matters, budgetary management and control. Also responsible for financial reporting and submission of statutory returns to authorities and ensure that the general finance and accounting operations are carried out in compliance with the relevant legislation.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review financial commitments and payments requests to ensure compliance with Plan Policies and procedures.

  • Process all financial transactions timely basis.

  • Prepare reconciliation of all bank accounts and booking ledgers on a
    monthly basis to ensure exceptions are identified and dealt promptly.

  • Help in preparation of financial management reports on a monthly basis for
    decision making.

  • Perform physical verification of Assets at least twice a year to ensure that all assets are accurately valued and recorded in the assets register.

  • Prepare monthly payroll and the related statutory returns; and ensure periodic PAYE, NSSF and WHT returns are done to ensure adherence to the Employment Act and
    Tax Laws.

  • Monitor the expenditures to ensure that program funds are utilized appropriately by the
    close of the fiscal year.

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile financial transactions through quick books software.

  • Prepare weekly cash flow statements and controlling expenditures and cash flow.

  • Assisting with the preparation of year end accounts and statutory accounts like external audit.

  • Managing and training staff when necessary.

  • Filling and remitting taxes and other obligations.

  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results to Senior Accountant and or Management.

  • Provide technical support and advice on management.

  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.

  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.

  • And any other job that may be given to the job holder from time to time.


PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance Management or Commerce from a recognized University.

  • Must have a professional qualification in accounting such as CPA

  • Being a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) is an additional advantage.


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.


COMPETENCIES:

  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks, Tally, oracle.

  • Good oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent analytical, detail-oriented and numerical skills.

  • Ability to research, analyse and communicate complex information to non-financial people and to make useful and usable recommendations.

  • High level of integrity with strong leadership and managerial abilities.

  • Computer literacy skills.

  • Honesty and transparency.

  • Respect and professionalism.

  • Time management and multitasking.

  • Knowledge of the Ugandan laws on Finance and companies.

  • Finance risk management.
