Qualifications/special skills

  • A High School diploma is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, public relations, international relations, marketing, development or related fields. is desirable.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in communications and media, or related areas is required.
  • Experience working within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is desirable.
  • Experience supporting Criminal Justice and related sectors is highly desirable.


Responsibilities
  • Support the project in implementation of public events, workshops, round tables, and forums.
  • Photograph/coordinate photography and develop web stories, press releases and media advisories at UNODC/ PLEAD II events and field missions.
  • Assist in implementing UNODC/ PLEAD II activities, including generating research studies and policy activities carried out by UNODC/ PLEAD II.
  • Support in developing a campaign work plan, including determining strategies to reach target audiences through social media
  • Support development of high-quality social media content, including visual and written online media posts
  • Aid in the design and produce communications materials such as audiovisual (photos and videos), brochures, posters and other materials based on the project’s needs.
  • Facilitate execution, as appropriate, agreed on campaign activities in coordination with project personnel.
  • Use appropriate software and methods for undertaking monitoring and data analysis to report on the effectiveness of social media (such as coverage and engagement analysis) and offline media activities
  • Support in administering online accounts and feeds, including responding to questions or queries raised through social media
  • Manage a digital archive of all photos, stories and press coverage.
  • In liaison with the PLEAD/ UNODC Communications Team and the Programme Managers, support in maintaining up to date information on UNODC activities on the UNODC ROEA and HQ websites and prepare advocacy materials, as required.
  • Facilitate UNODC - media and community relations - and ensure all media coverage of UNODC is monitored and reported to staff and the country office.
