Twende Sports exists to fill the gap in the quality sports experience in Africa and thereby create new and better opportunities for sports enthusiasts, athletes, and youth. We currently run a Professional Basketball Team (The Nairobi City Thunder) and Youth Development Programs. We are looking to expand into facilities ownership and management, women’s development, and talent development.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will assist in managing daily financial and accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for initiating transfers, processing payments, managing petty cash, and supporting various accounting activities.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will assist in managing daily financial and accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for initiating transfers, processing payments, managing petty cash, and supporting various accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Accounting Duties:

    • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.

    • Support month-end and year-end close processes.

    • Reconcile bank statements and ledgers.

  2. Payment Processing:

    • Initiate and process electronic transfers and payments.

    • Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices.

    • Maintain records of all transactions.

  3. Petty Cash Management:

    • Oversee the management of petty cash, including disbursement and reconciliation.

    • Ensure proper documentation and approval for petty cash expenses.

  4. Accounts Receivable and Payable:

    • Assist in maintaining accounts receivable and payable records.

    • Follow up on outstanding invoices and ensure timely collections.

    • Verify and reconcile invoices and receipts.

  5. Financial Documentation:

    • Maintain organized and accurate financial records.

    • Assist in the preparation and filing of financial documents.

  6. Compliance and Auditing:

    • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations.

    • Assist in internal and external audits.

  7. Support and Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Senior Accountant and finance team on various projects.

    • Provide support for other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office Suite.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
