We invite applications for the position of Process Engineer at our Kericho operations – Finlays Tea Extracts.


The Job

Reporting to Business Growth Manager, the Process Engineerswill oversee and assess existing processes and workflows. Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures. Assembles reports to document process status and changes. Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.


Minimum Requirements

  • A BSC degree in Chemical Engineering/Process Engineering or related field. A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.

  • 3-5years work-related experience

  • Team leadership skills

  • Proficiency in Computer software setup

  • Proficiency in Statistical analysis and use of advanced Excel.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Process improvements and innovative solutions in all aspects of operations. Target improvements to uptime, speed, scrap, and setup to maximize efficiency, improve quality, and assure process safety.

  • Assure that all (new and current) production tasks can and are being performed safely.

  • Assist the management team in identifying areas that limit output and provide a cost analysis to the Leadership team for approval.

  • Work with Division managers and the Technical Department to design processes for new products and existing product improvements.

  • Aid in determining corrective actions when machine failure or inefficiency causes quality issues.

  • Troubleshoot areas that impede production.

  • Provide mechanical analysis during incident investigations.

  • Evaluate new industry technologies and equipment offerings reporting findings to the Head of Department.

  • Oversee installation of new equipment.

  • Involve Management in the decision-making processes on all issues that affect the plant, are precedent-setting, and/or are vital to the success of the operation.

  • Provide cost/benefit analysis with the Head of Department for capital expenditures.

  • Perform risk assessments and provide proposals for contingency plans.

  • Perform process simulations.

  • Design, manage, and see-through process improvement projects, from inception through to start-up and certification by working closely with contractors and maintenance.

  • Manage cost and time constraints to ensure projects are completed on time.

  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions.

  • Identify parts needed for repairs and projects for continual improvement and have spare parts available for critical repairs.

  • CAD experience – the ability to draw and read blueprints, as well as create in CAD.

  • Management of Change (MOC) administrator

  • Support company/departmental initiatives and ongoing projects including the new ERP system (Sage X3)
