Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • The applicant for the role should hold at least a Diploma in Nursing from a reputable institution.
  • Must be a registered Nurse with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • At least two years’ experience in nursing in a school setting.
  • Have a current up-to-date practising license and Knowledge of basic computer software.
  • Passionate about community health care with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and have excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to working within standardised guidelines of Nursing care.


Responsibilities
  • Implement duties as per medical procedures in line with organisation standards, Baby Watoto Medical Policies, and maintain practice accordingly.
  • Participate in daily clinical rounds and ensure that clinical issues are resolved promptly to prioritise infants’ welfare.
  • Identify and contain infections early and implement appropriate infection control measures with diligence.
  • Participate in infants’ feed calculations and nutritional management of those with malnutrition, under the guidance of the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and provide regular clinical updates on infants.
  • Participate in health programmes within and outside Watoto as and when a need arises.
  • Participate in colleague-led training to maintain a high standard of care and implement evidence-based education and practice.
