Description

The Power & Controls Technician will be responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, and fault-finding of electrical switchboards and control panels. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure all products meet technical specifications, quality standards, and compliance requirements.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems and control circuitry
  • Proven experience in panel wiring, termination, and testing
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience with PLC wiring and control systems (basic programming knowledge is an added advantage)
  • Sound understanding of electrical safety standards and workshop best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and wire electrical switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), and control panels
  • Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, GA drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Install and terminate power and control wiring in accordance with design specifications
  • Mount and connect electrical components including breakers, contactors, relays, PLCs, VSDs, meters, and protection devices
  • Conduct functional testing, pre-commissioning checks, and fault-finding
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical standards and safety regulations
  • Assist with modifications, upgrades, and custom panel builds
  • Maintain accurate documentation and quality control records
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop
