Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Earned a PhD in Theology, Religious Studies, Church History, Adventist Studies, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience at tertiary level;
- Evidence of scholarly research and publications in the relevant field;
- Demonstrates record of scholarly publications and academic leadership in accordance with university promotion criteria.
- Training in Ellen G. White Studies, Adventist Heritage and History, archival and manuscript management, and research methodologies will be an added advantage.
Additional Requirements
- Must be a baptized and practicing member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission, philosophy, and educational principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Thorough knowledge of the writings and ministry of Ellen G. White and the Adventist heritage.
- Evidence of active involvement in church ministry, leadership, or service.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment.
- Proficiency in information and communication technology applications relevant to teaching, research, and administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and administration of the Ellen G. White Centre in accordance with the policies of the University and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Promote the study, understanding, and application of the writings, ministry, and prophetic role of Ellen G. White.
- Coordinate and supervise research projects related to Adventist history, theology, mission, and the Spirit of Prophecy.
- Organize seminars, workshops, conferences, symposiums, and public lectures on Adventist heritage and the Spirit of Prophecy.
- Develop and implement strategic plans, annual work plans, and budgets for the Centre.
- Manage and preserve archival materials, publications, manuscripts, and other resources housed in the Centre.
- Facilitate access to Ellen G. White resources for students, faculty, researchers, church workers, and community members.
- Collaborate with church institutions, conferences, unions, and other Ellen G. White research centres locally and internationally.
- Engage in scholarly writing, publication, and dissemination of research findings related to Adventist studies.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Department of Theology and Religious Studies as assigned.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses.
- Participate in curriculum development, academic advising, and departmental activities.
- Mentor students and provide spiritual guidance consistent with the mission of the University.
- Seek grants, partnerships, and other resources to support the activities of the Centre.
- Prepare periodic reports on the activities, achievements, and performance of the Centre.
- Represent the University in relevant academic, ecclesiastical, and professional forums.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Vice Chancellor.
