The GIZ Kenya trade portfolio falls within the Sustainable Economic Development and Digitalization (SED) cluster and is made up of 6 trade projects including: AfCFTA support program, Partnerships for Sustainable Trade, Alliances for Product Quality, Inequalities, Northern Corridor, and PeCI. The Pan-African e-Commerce Initiative (PeCI) is one of the
project’s in the GIZ Kenya Trade portfolio that aims to improve the conditions for SMEs in selected African countries.
Position Summary:
The Trade Communications intern will provide support to the Trade team in advancing trade-related communications initiatives and stakeholder engagement. The incumbent will contribute to the development of communication materials, coordination of outreach activities, content creation, management of digital platforms, and preparation of reports and briefs. The role requires a proactive individual with strong communication, research, and organizational skills, and an interest in trade and economic development.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing communication materials newsletters, reports, and social media content.
Ensure the trade team’s visibility by preparing, curating and ensuring prompt posting of trade team event on GIZ social media pages in collaboration with the communications focal point.
Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.
Conduct research and prepare background briefs on trade topics, programs, and related developments as guided.
Provide logistical and communication support for trade-related events, stakeholder forums, and public engagements.
Monitor media coverage and prepare regular updates and summaries for internal reporting.
Liaise with other communications specialists in the cluster for technical communications advice
Contribute to the development of stakeholder engagement strategies and communication campaigns.
Support with overarching support in other PeCI countries where required
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Trade, Economics, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze information, and prepare clear reports.
Proficiency in digital communication tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
