  • We are looking for a passionate, energetic self-starter who will contribute to the overall success of the Solar Water Farm program by rapidly and efficiently moving projects through the pipeline. As the Site Identification Desktop Researcher, you will play an essential role in determining future locations for our water desalination projects in the country. Specifically, the role will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on data from a variety of secondary and primary sources to evaluate a project’s viability. whether projects should be advanced through the development process or disqualified from consideration. The role is critical to the overall success of the SWF Program by quickly and efficiently sourcing and evaluating information about the scarcity, price and availability of water in a community Others would describe you as highly organized, analytical, and process-driven with an engaging personality and a can-do, problem-solving attitude.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • 1+ years' work experience performing research.
  • Basic data analysis and visualization skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to stay organized and meet performance targets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with remote teams and ability to work independently.
  • Resourceful, solutions-oriented, can-do attitude, and a team player.
  • Flexibility and willing to help where it is needed most.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English & Kiswahili.

  • Identify communities that face challenges accessing affordable clean water.
  • Perform desktop research to evaluate whether communities are good candidates for Solar Water Farms based on factors such as water scarcity, price and quality.
  • Identify key informants within target communities, make contact, and administer phone-based surveys.
  • Maintain a well-organized and thorough database of all data collected.
  • Work with county water resources authorities and others to obtain hydrogeological data including borehole reports and hydrogeological studies.
  • Work diligently and rapidly to advance or disqualify projects to meet internal performance targets.
  • Report research findings to the Director of Solar Water Farm Expansion on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of site identification processes and criteria.
  • Occasionally conduct field surveys of households, water vendors, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Any other tasks or projects that may be required.
